The Texas commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education (TCLEOSE) sets the standards for certification of peace officers in Texas. Each certified academy in the State has an advisory board which is responsible for establishing entry requirements and rules and regulations for the academy. The Permian Basin Law Enforcement Academy offers training and certification courses for peace officers in the Permian Basin region. A 17-week certification course and a series of quarterly courses are available through the academy. On-line testing is also now available for the Basic Peace officer exam, Basic Jailer exam, and Investigative Hypnosis exam. The benefits to the online testing include immediate test results, convenience, and cost savings.
