The Permian Basin Regional Planning Commission is working with
the National Association of Regional Councils, ICF Macro and Monster
Worldwide, on a Pathways Out of Poverty grant awarded by
the U.S. Department of Labor Employment and Training Administration,
using American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) funds.
Through this award, four regions in Texas, Arizona, and Ohio are
receiving funding to ensure workers are prepared for future careers
in environmentally sustainable industries.
Programs and Services
The Pathways Program offers opportunities for:
- Trainings, certifications, and credentials in a green industry
(HVAC, Wind Energy, Construction Trades, Weatherization, etc.)
- Interviewing opportunities for jobs in a green industry
- Case management and supportive services
This program is free of charge but eligible candidates must fulfill the eligibility
requirements and must be willing to fulfill all training requirements
which include pre-employment services, classroom, and on-the-job training.
Upon successful completion of program requirements, participants will
be assisted with opportunities to interview for employment placement.
What Are Green Jobs?
Green jobs are jobs invoiced in economic activities that help protect
or restore the environment or conserve natural resources. Green jobs
related to the Pathways program include:

(Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration)

Weatherization
(Insulation, Weather Stripping, Energy Efficient Windows and
Doors)
