PBRPC Complements and Supplements Members’ Local Governments

The Permian Basin Regional Planning Commission (PBRPC) is pleased to serve as the Economic Development District for the Permian Basin. Through the PBRPC, the individual governments of our members may combine their resources and talents to meet challenges beyond their individual capabilities. By fostering intergovernmental cooperation and coordination and conducting comprehensive regional planning, PBRPC both complements and supplements local government without infringement. PBRPC works to provide a forum for the study and resolution of area-wide problems.

Over the past decades, PBRPC has worked closely with the cities, counties, and special districts of the region to expand existing industries, recruit new industries, and maintain the region's global competitiveness in agriculture and energy. We believe the Permian Basin’s strong workforce, tremendous natural resource availability, and solid infrastructure make our region desirable for business expansions and relocations.

Additionally, PBRPC has developed partnerships with other regional institutions to combine efforts to become major national economic development players. Our partnership with The High Ground of Texas creates a region stretching from the northern Panhandle into the Texas Plains and capitalizes on Texas’ pro-business, low-tax benefits to lower costs even more to support productivity and profitability. PBRPC is also a member of the Texas Association of Regional Councils (TARC), a statewide association of regional councils whose members are focused on enhancing the area’s quality of life through regional strategies, partnerships, and solutions.

PBRPC is honored to serve as a comprehensive resource for Planning Area 9 of the Permian Basin. We are dedicated to finding you the answers and solutions you need.
