Monahans residents and businesses can still sign up for high-speed internet! For the past several years, the Monahans Chamber of Commerce has been working towards bringing top tier high-speed internet to the city.

Teresa Burnett — Executive Director of the Monahans Chamber of Commerce — created the Monahans Broadband Project. The mapping of the broadband service area covering the east side of town is now complete. Phase 2 is in progress, and Hosted America will provide high-speed internet service throughout the city. The new internet service will be more reliable and affordable for Monahans residents and businesses.

Consider a Move to Monahans

Monahans, located in the center of the Permian Basin, is a tight-knit community with neighborly individuals who are always happy to lend a hand when needed. The residents know their neighbors by name and greet each other on a regular basis while enjoying a nice day in the yard. Monahans' cost of living is 21.4 percent lower than the national average. Although Monahans offers a small-town atmosphere, it also has easy access to some big city features.

Plus, Monahans boasts unique rural landscapes and intriguing bits of nature. The towering sand dunes of the Monahans Sandhills State Park are just one of the city’s popular destinations. You can walk the dunes, explore the Harvard Oak tree forest, rent sand disks for dune surfing, rent out the group hall and pavilion for special events, bring your horse, and even camp out. At the park’s Dunagan Visitors Center, you can discover more about the history of the area and observe the wildlife. Another scenic place to visit is the Perch Pond Community Fishing Lake. Fish include catfish, crappie, trout, perch, and carp.

Monahans has a multitude of employment opportunities in oil and manufacturing. The Village Farms Monahans location currently employs hundreds of local workers. The company produces and distributes greenhouse-grown tomatoes, bell peppers, and cucumbers. Other big employment opportunities are also available in Monahans.

Monahans is also family-friendly, with an excellent school system. Not only does it deliver outstanding education, but it also employs hundreds of workers. The school campuses in the district provide quality education for pre-kindergarten to 12th grade students. The district offers a number of useful programs, including occupational and physical therapy, transportation designed to assist handicapped individuals, and a Dropout Recovery Program. Registered nurses and educational diagnosticians are available on campus.

With its low cost of living, employment opportunities, exceptional education for kids and adults, and plenty to do, Monahans is an ideal place to live and work. The city will soon be equipped with dependable high-speed internet that will be highly beneficial to residents and businesses.
