Welcome to the Economic Development Department
The Economic Development Department of the PBRPC — serving the 17 counties of the Permian Basin — is a comprehensive resource for county and city officials to use for economic and business development activities that help to create a region of economic growth and prosperity.
Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy
The Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) was developed when the Permian Basin Regional Planning Commission (PBRPC) Board of Directors — representing each of the 17 member counties — took action to address issues that impact the diversification and economic security of the region such as emerging industries, workforce, and infrastructure. Please visit the Permian Basin Regional Data page to view/download the document.
Funded by a U.S. Department of Commerce, Economic Development Administration grant, the Board formed a CEDS committee and conducted a regional planning forum to map and analyze the region's economic resources.
As a result, goals and objectives addressing the areas of workforce and education development, transportation and infrastructure, housing, industry diversification, regional marketing, and outreach were addressed in the CEDS.
PBRCP has applied to the U.S. Department of Commerce, Economic Development Administration for Economic Development District Designation to assist the region's ability for continued progress toward the goals and objectives contained in the CEDS.
Grants and Funding Programs
While many of our member counties have their own incentives and grants, PBRPC administers or supports certain federal and state grants and funding programs. Explore what is available here.
