PBLEA Training – Licensure and In-service courses

The Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE), as directed by the  Texas Legislature, mandates specific training for Texas peace officers and jailers. Any Texas Peace Officer or Jailer must hold a valid license issued by TCOLE.  To be eligible, law enforcement officers must complete the current Basic Peace Officer Course (BPOC), and jailers must complete the current Basic County Corrections Course (BCCC).  Successful completion of the approved licensure course qualifies a student to take the state exam. PBLEA conducts two BPOC’s each year, beginning in January and July.  Additionally, a BCCC is offered each quarter.  All training courses are face-to-face in a classroom setting.

PBLEA currently only accepts cadets employed by regional law enforcement agencies for BPOC and BCCC Licensure courses.  Each candidate must meet all the requirements for enrollment as stated in the Texas Administrative Code Rule 217.1 Minimum Standards for Enrollment. To  enroll a student in a licensure course, BPOC or BCCC, the employing agency must submit a completed, notarized Declaration of Licensing Course Eligibility (DOLCEE), you can access that document here.

PBLEA offers various legislatively-mandated and in-service training classes throughout the year. Available courses can be viewed under “In-Service Courses”.
