Basic County Correction Course Training

The Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) Basic County Corrections Course (BCCC) aims to prepare individuals to work as County Corrections Officers in Texas, equipping them with the knowledge and skills required to effectively carry out their duties and maintain control within a jail environment. More specifically, the goal of the BCCC is to ensure that county corrections officers are:

  • Trained and equipped to handle the responsibilities of working in a correctional setting.
  • Knowledgeable about legal aspects of their role, including inmate rights, use of force, and procedures.
  • Skilled in managing inmates, handling emergency situations, and maintaining facility security.
  • Prepared to pass the TCOLE certification test for a Basic County Corrections Officer in the state of Texas.

In essence, the BCCC plays a crucial role in fulfilling TCOLE's broader mission of ensuring that the people of Texas are served by highly trained and ethical corrections personnel.

Agencies enroll cadets by submission of a notarized DOLCEE form attesting that the student meets eligibility requirements. A release of liability is also submitted.
