Seniors dance the day away at annual “Senior Celebration” in Midland

MIDLAND, Texas (KOSA) - More than 400 seniors filled the Horseshoe Arena for a day of joy, dancing, and community connection at this year’s Senior Celebration—an event designed to recognize Older Americans Month and show just how senior-friendly the Permian Basin community really is.

A Day to Celebrate Senior Contributions

The Senior Celebration, hosted by the Area Agency on Aging of the Permian Basin Regional Planning Commission, aimed to honor the many contributions seniors have made to the workforce, community, and society.

“They come in expecting just another health fair—something informative, which is very important—but that’s just not what we cater to,” said Christina Cordle, who works in Information, Referral, and Assistance with the Area Agency on Aging. “To see them kind of drone in, waddling, and then come out uplifted, bobbing their heads and just having a good time… just that turnaround, for me, is worth it.”
